Christmas is Coming! 2023

The Town Hall  ballroom was dressed for Christmas with bunting, tinsel and Christmas trees.  The St Ann’s Hospice Festival Choir performed a selection of seasonal songs.   We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport as well as guests and trustees from the Hospice.  The Greenbank Preparatory School Chamber Choir conducted by Kate Mercer delighted the audience with a lovely selection of short songs.  Our very talented, regular accompanist, Christopher Ellis  joined forces with Solomon-Miles  Donnelly to perform some breath taking piano duets to entertain an almost capacity audience.

During the concert John Pomphrey, Founder and Music Director of the Festival Choir, presented a cheque to Emma Dixon, Director of Clinical Services at the Hospice for over £12,600.  The total of this years fund raising.  With Christmas jumpers to the fore and mulled wine available, the audience joined in with Christmas Carols and a wonderful afternoon was had by all! Once again a huge Thank you to all our loyal supporters who donate so generously, through ticket sales and the hugely popular raffle!

Come and Sing Day 2023

Every year in October St Ann’s Hospice Choir holds a Come and Sing day for members and non members alike. This year we sang A Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott and  Choruses from The Creation by Hayden. It is a great opportunity to sing together pieces that we would otherwise not get to sing. It was a great day which also raised a great amount of money for St Ann’s  Hospice.

Summer concert 2023

Our Summer concert this year was held on June the 11th. It was a lovely evening, with stunning piano solos from Christopher Ellis, and some wonderful challenging vocal pieces as well as some firm favourites  from the choir.

As Usual the evening was a great success and we have to give a huge thanks to everyone who came to support us, bought tickets, helped on the door selling and buying raffle tickets. We greatly appreciate all you do .

Carol singing at the Trafford Centre

A busy Friday evening on the 16th December saw some of the choir singing Carols at the Trafford Centre – We have yet to find out how much we raised, but people seemed to enjoy hearing us sing amid the shopping chaos, and did appear to be adding plenty to our buckets!

Christmas Is Coming Concert 2022!

We held our Christmas Concert on Sunday 4th December 2022. This was a very well attended concert- so a huge thank you to all our followers and supporters who come out to support the Hospice. It was a very enjoyable occasion, with lovely  audience participation and a full program of pieces from the choir, pianists and a reading. With this and together with the raffle, which had an incredible first prize of a handmade patchwork quilt, it was a hugely successful evening!

We also presented a cheque to St Ann’s Hospice of the money raised so far this year

Come and Sing Day 2022 –

Thank you to all our participants of the SAHFC come and sing day. It was a wonderful day, with a lovely variety of music. We hope you enjoyed it and we had some great compliments from the audience who came to listen. Big thanks to Ed McHale who took the session at short notice, and to Christopher Ellis for his expertise and enthusiasm on   the piano. We now know that after costs we will have raised in the region of £1,750 to donate to the Hospice.  We raised £186 on the raffle and about
£140.00 on cakes and hot drinks.  Thank you to all those who baked and donated
raffle prizes – and thank YOU for your generosity supporting the Hospice.

If you are interested in singing with the choir please  contact us at hospicechoir@aol.com

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our Summer Celebrations concert, to everyone who helped on the night, selling raffle tickets and front of house. Thanks especially all our loyal supporters who return to support us each year.

Our Christmas is Coming concert 2021 on the 5th December was a huge success, taking place  at the Stockport Town Hall to a very full and  enthusiastic audience.

It was a wonderful evening  of Christmas music and carols with our very own Hospice Choir conducted by John Pomphrey featuring Margaret Ferguson, Soprano and Christopher Ellis on piano.

This year was an extra special one, marking the 30th anniversary of the inaugural ‘Voices for Hospices’ concert for the Hospice and also the 50th Anniversary of  St Ann’s Hospice. In the last 30 years over £770,000 has been donated to the hospice through the choirs fundraising efforts.
