Do you enjoy singing?

You could be part of this friendly, energetic, purposeful choir.

We perform two concerts each year. Our Showcase Concert is at the prestigious Bridgewater Hall each Christmas. Here we are joined by other performers – Corus Brass, Jeffrey Makinson – and our accompanist Christopher Ellis to perform a wealth of Christmas music with the audience being encouraged to join in with a number of traditional carols. Our second concert takes place in June at Stockport Town Hall with a programme of popular tunes by composers including George and Ira Gershwin and gospel music.

In addition, we hold ‘Come and Sing’ Days in October where we encourage members of other choirs and those who enjoy singing to join with our existing members to sing – and perform – a piece in a day. In 2018, we sang Music from Favourite Opera choruses- Puccini, Borodin, Verdi, and  Brindisi as well as  a Fancy of folk songs by Cecilia McDowall.

Rehearsals for our concerts are normally held on Friday evenings at Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church from 7:15pm until 9.30pm for six to eight weeks prior to each concert.  Generally, we have one Sunday afternoon rehearsal from 2pm to 4pm in addition to the above.

How to join

Prospective members need to attend a short, informal audition. Please use the form on our Contact Us page to enquire about membership.

Fees

Members pay an Annual Fee  – for 2018/19 this is £80 – payable in August each year.

Other ways to support the choir……..

Running the choir inevitably costs money both in terms of hiring of rehearsal rooms, purchasing new music to add to our repertoire, printing of programme, fliers, and hiring concert venues.  For every £ we spend on these things, the amount we are able to give to the Hospice is reduced.  Sponsorship and donations are therefore very welcome to help in covering these costs.

If you would consider sponsoring a concert by contributing towards the printing of programmes, fliers, or even the hire of a concert venue (Bridgewater Hall, Stockport Town Hall or RNCM) we would love to hear from you. If you would like to to make a donation to the choir please use the form on our Contact Us page.
